The move toward cloud computing as a technology design style continues to accelerate. We all know the expected benefits: reduction in CAPEX, better utilization of resources, improved system availability, better disaster recovery, and flexibility of compute and storage resources. Add in the ability to engineer fine-grained solutions to provide unique opportunities for creating responsive, mission-focused applications and services to meet a wide array of needs, and it sounds like a winning combination.

Considering these and other benefits the question is most often not “Should we use cloud services?” but rather, “How can we best utilize cloud services?”

Cognitio has helped organizations across multiple sectors of the economy build transition plans for the secure use of cloud computing and provides lessons learned relevant to any organization in our Cloud Transition Framework (CTF) white paper. The paper underscores the importance of vision. It also reviews several key questions we help clients think through on any cloud journey. Key questions we examine include:

  • Which cloud service is right for our mission set?
  • How do we best increase responsiveness to mission?
  • How can we effectively transition legacy applications to a cloud design?
  • How do we secure the cloud appropriately?
